We may be island-bound, but I’ve found a new dream destination to add to the list. After seeing longtime blogger friend Maryam’s home, of My Marrakesh fame, in Living Etc, a trip to Marrakesh has jumped to the top of my vacation wishlist. Well, at least a visit to her house has!
Maryam’s home is a study in color, pattern, texture and DIY ingenuity that I long for, but admittedly lack. I was most impressed by her “Moroccan tile” stairs {in top pic}. They’re in fact not tile at all, but stencils Maryam created and painted with a friend!
Her living room is an expansive space that feels light and airy and so filled with treasures that I just want to wander around and look at each and every one.
I also love her use of a variety of tile, from her kitchen, to bedroom to master bath. She says the kitchen floor makes her recipes more flavorful! J’dore. I’m digging the juxtaposition of the homage to the traditional against the modern marble counters, lacquered red cabinets and sculptural pendant light.
Although I don’t think we’ll be uprooting to Morocco any time soon, I’m definitely going to be turning to this style for more loft life inspiration. I’d love to add a few touches here and there. Luckily, Maryam’s book Marrakesh by Design was released this spring, her Pinterest is addictive and she has her own store of Moroccan goods. I’m already stalking a rug {or six!}
Maryam ~ I hope you don’t mind a house guest!
PS – I do have the opportunity to join a bloggers design tour of London, but I need YOUR VOTE to get there. Hurry – the deadline is 11:00 am EST today. You can vote here – no need to sign up or register for anything. I’d so appreciate it!!
