Holiday Style: What to Wear to Family Get-Togethers

In December, we’re pausing work wear posts because the party season has officially arrived! This can either be the most wonderful or the most stressful time of the year, but your wardrobe shouldn’t be what’s giving you headaches {leave that to the champagne!}.

I find one of the hardest things to dress for are actually family gatherings. You know everyone really well so can be comfortable and casual, but I always think it’s nice to still show a bit of your festive side!

I recently hosted a party at our house {spoiler alert, loft life 2.0 sneak peeks!} and think I found the perfect formula for family affairs.

The jacquard pant is going to be your best friend this season. I found the perfect pair on Asos.com! They’ll work in nearly every setting and are a fabulous alternative to the ubiquitous party dress.

Pair them with a corset top, a tuxedo jacket and killer heels and you’re ready for your office’s cocktail party. In contrast, I kept my homebound look a bit more low-key by topping them with a favorite gray cotton sweater.

Here’s how I combined pieces to stay cozy while still feeling refined.

It was the perfect ensemble as I could go straight from prepping appetizers in the kitchen to pouring champagne at the table, looking lovely but feeling comfortable the entire time.

So when you’re looking at your party calendar for December, don’t forget the less obvious events. You still want something special for them too.

But as always, I’ve got your back. I’ve partnered with Lucky Magazine and Asos.com who are here to rescue your closet with a $2,000 shopping spree! You’ll be able to get the pieces you need for every holiday occasion.

In the meantime, you can shop my entire family-fun look here: jaquard pants, similar sweater, pumps, jeweled collar.

Here’s to a fun and festive holiday season luvies,

  11. I am so loving that you posted this! I think about it all the time! It’s your fam – you don’t need to go over the top but it’s inevitable that there will be photos so you most certainly cannot be in your PJs. And love that you considered prepping in the kitchen when putting this together…another constant cause for wardrobe concern. xo
