Tasty Tuesday: {Cook Here, Eat This}

There’s something about a bright white kitchen, no matter the dimensions, that brings a smile to my face. This galley kitchen may be teeny tiny, but it certainly is efficient when it comes to entertaining. You simply need to turn 180 degrees to serve your guests at the brilliant breakfast bar.

As the my guru Tim Gunn would say… make it work! This space certainly does.

It also seems like the perfect place from which to serve a simple but delicious appetizer. I’m a big fan of disguising vegetables as something much more naughty. These Parmesan Green Bean Fries certainly do the trick. I suddenly know what I’m baking up tonight!

Crispy Baked Parmesan Green Bean Fries by Dashing Dish

Ingredients

4 C fresh green beans

1/4 C grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 t garlic powder

1/4 t sea salt

1/8 t pepper (to taste)

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil, and spray with non-stick cooking spray. {I prefer this natural olive oil sprayer to avoid synthetic nonstick sprays}

Wash and snip off the ends of green beans.
Place on prepared baking pan, making sure none are laying on top of each other to ensure even crispness. Sprinkle seasonings and parmesan cheese evenly over green beans.

Line to Love: {Mes Dames}

The collection by the Swedish design house Mes Dames is the epitome of work wear chic.

The gorgeous tailoring is what first caught my eye. I’m loving the Mad Men inspired below the knee pencil skirts are stunning. And I’ve never met an ankle length trouser I didn’t like. The three-toned suit is minimal and practically perfect in every way.

The button up the back detail on this sheer tank is a stunner.

And I’m swooning over the sleeveless trench.

The entire collection is highly feminine, but incredibly strong at the same time. You would certainly have a commanding presence in any one of these looks.

And really, isn’t that what fashion is all about?

New Column: Fashion Fantasy!

If you’re like me, growing up you flipped through magazines and dreamed of playing in that glamorous sartorial world. I’ve always loved the editorial take on style, setting a mood and telling a visual story, with the help of fantastic clothes of course!

And then, as I was sitting down to introduce this series to you I spied this all too true thought {from the what I consider the mecca of all profound thinking}: My So-Called Life.

mysocalledlife

That’s why I was thrilled to partner with a kindred spirit, photographer Emily Johnson Anderson in a new project we’re calling Fashion Fantasy. I must admit, it’s rather fabulous to play with beautiful clothes and a creative friend! You’d be amazed at the different definitions of self you can uncover when you go outside your comfort zone.

For our inaugural experiment, we had the opportunity to feature pieces from one of my favorite lines, Emerson Fry. I’m so excited to share the results with you!

We took our inspiration from the work of Helmut Newton. His famed black and white images featuring strong women seemed like the perfect influence to kick off with!

It’s a rather fun challenge to take on a character for an afternoon {as well as climb around the Sutro Baths in high heels! Oh, the lengths we’ll go to in the name of fashion!}. I certainly walked around feeling a bit more brazen and bold for a few days afterward. You never know what characteristics you might uncover. They’re too often hidden deep within.

What will you discover about yourself this week?
