This is Very Pinteresting: {Oversized Pendants}

Has anybody noticed the influx of inspiration rooms with oversized lighting lately? We’re seeing everything from jumbo floor lamps, to clusters of huge bulbed pendants in our feed.  That is why we are dying to talk about oversized pendants in this installment of This is Very Pinteresting!

The juxtaposition of scale between the pendants and the other furniture pieces in the room bring interest and thought provoking use of scale and proportion. Almost child-like, these oversized pendants play with the idea of a more fun and not so serious approach to design.

Getting the look in your own home is easy! Try one enormous pendant over a dining table or a pair of large pendants over a kitchen island.

You can think outside the kitchen and dining room too! Hanging large pendants over bedside tables is a fun and new way to think of bedside lamps. Not only does it provide a statement in the bedroom, but also gives you more space on your table for accessories and nighttime essentials.

There are so many places to install oversized pendants in your home: over desks, entryway tables or even between a pair of chairs in the living room; the possibilities are endless.

What do you all think of this new design trend? Will you be trying it in any rooms of the house?

This is Very Pinteresting is our biweekly series brought to you by our Editorial Intern Bianca of the blog A Fabulous Challenge

  1. Hmmmm…it certainly is a dramatic statement, and a really fun look, but I don’t think it jives with my personal style. Or maybe I am just not bold enough in my design choices :)

  2. I adore them! Especially the three in a row look. Very dramatic. Wonderful layout Erin. :)
