Friday Fave {12}: Oh Yeah!

This week is epitomized by this video from Yeah! Rentals, the LA-based furniture rental company specializing in amazing mid century pieces for your next big party. I’ve been {frantically!} dancing around amazing pieces of furniture all week, styling my rooms for Sunset Magazine’s Celebration Weekend – whose doors open to the public tomorrow!

After putting final touches on my rooms this afternoon, breaking out the dance of joy is definitely in order, no matter how embarrassing it may be. Yeah, we did it!

If you’re in the Bay Area, I hope you stop by Menlo Park this weekend to say hi. I’d love to meet you! You can get all the details on Sunset Magazine’s Celebration Weekend right here. For only $15, it’s the best ticket in town!!

PS: for sneak peeks hit up #sunsetcw on Instagram all weekend!!

Live Here, Decorate With This: {Simply Serene}

It’s been quite awhile since we’ve done a Live Here, Decorate with This post. After seeing this bright and airy bedroom, I immediately thought how much I would love to spend copious amounts of time relaxing in such a space.

The plant life contrasting with the crisp white walls and minimal styling are the inspiration for our latest Live Here, Decorate with This!

I’m completely obsessed with indoor plants right now. They bring so much life to a room and add such a cool and sculptural element. They are the perfect styling accessory to bring us right into summer! It’s a way to feel like your on vacation right in the middle of your home.

In order to recreate this look you first want to start with a neutral base that will work with any style, {perfect for when you decide to change your room to in the future!}. These minimalist headboards from Argos are a great place to start. I love the idea of mixing different wood finishes, so throw in some darker pieces like these fun bookshelves. Add an industrial touch with sculptural bedside tables to sit your book {or iPad!} on before you go to bed!

Next, play up the crisp and relaxing vibe with tons of natural materials and organic elements. Think jute rugs, woven baskets, leather-wrapped chairs and accessories with a ton of texture. The great thing about natural pieces is that they can transition into any other room in your house, working seamlessly other styles.

Lastly, throw in a nod to that dream vacation with a fun tribal or chic tropical pattern. A small dose of it will do, i.e. in a throw pillow {please, stay away from anything reminiscent of your dad’s old Hawaiian shirts!}. Don’t forget a vase with a palm frond, or better yet, a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree and you are set.

Idea to Steal {12}: Tie One On

lampslinga-051

There’s something fabulous about the casual ease of a disheveled light fixture. It gives a stylish yet unpretentious twist to a space. That’s why this DIY light is this week’s Idea to Steal.

I’d love to drop something like this from a high height over an end table as an alternative to a lamp or make one a focal point over my dining table. Sure, there’s some debate among electricians as to their safety, but no one can argue with their seriously cool style!
