Seattle is my hometown and one of my duties as a Seattleite is to direct all visiting friends away from the Space Needle {sorry Space Needle!}, and toward any of the lesser-known gems that this amazing city has to offer!

Perhaps you’re planning a trip to the Emerald City soon. We’ve called upon our friends at Mosey once again to build a perfect itinerary for you.  When you’re spending a day exploring, you want to start with a good meal. Le Pichet on First Avenue is my go-to spot for a cappuccino and the best baguette you’ll taste outside of France.

Next you’ll want to dip into Pike Place Market. Yes,it is the ultimate tourist destination, but as the oldest working farmers market in the United States it cannot be missed. Just go early! Sample some fresh local produce, see the original Starbucks {fine, that’s the epitome of touristy, but it’s still fun}, and try some freshly-made cheese at Beecher’s.

Now that you’re thoroughly fueled and caffeinated  stroll down to 1st Avenue for some shopping. Boutiques line the streets. My favorites include Far4 if you’re looking for some modern and eclectic home accessories. If you’re searching for something more vintage {and French}, go next door and explore Watson Kennedy.

Once you’ve shopped till you’ve almost dropped, trek just a little further to Pioneer Square and enjoy a light bite at Bar Sajour, restauranteur Matt Dillon’s latest and greatest hotspot.

Finally, to cap off your day and for a change of pace and scenery, hop in a cab and head to Capitol Hill for dinner. Enjoy an order {or two or three–you’re on vacation, after all} of the best handmade pasta you’ll ever eat at Spinasse.

If you’re heading to Seattle any time soon, I hope you’ll try at least one of these places. If you happen to drop by Spinasse, I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d overnight me a bowl of their pasta! You can also check out more Seattle to-do’s at Mosey.

  1. I already live here and I still haven’t been to any of these places (shame on me!). Will definitely check them out soon. I’ve been wanting to Bar Sajour but I didn’t know the name of it! I could never forget that adorable interior, though.
