Christmas comes with a lot of expectations. Quality time with family & friends {that is joyful, dammit!}, beautiful food, idyllic Christmas mornings filled with picture perfect gifts and happy smiles. That is a lovely idea. Then there’s reality.

My Christmas’s tend to start with dragging my grumpy butt out of bed {even on Christmas I’m just not a morning person}, stumbling downstairs in my ratty old tee and grandpa sweats and fumbling around until coffee is in my hand. Grand plans for glorious Christmas breakfasts are often plotted but are rarely idyllic. In Christmas’s past I’ve burnt myself while cooking, clogged the kitchen sink and had the oven stop working. Joyful, joyful indeed!

But I think I’ve found the key to unlocking what Christmas morning dreams are made of: fabulous pajamas! I mean, everything could only go perfectly if you start by lookin’ super cute, right??

Christmas morning really should start with breakfast in bed! Easing into the day’s festiviites with a little coffee, treat and quiet time sounds like bliss to me! We must also not forget that the holidays are full of picture taking! I’d much rather be captured in a cute matching pajama set {how fun are those prancing zebras}, than my usual hot mess!

One Christmas rule I do strictly adhere to is staying in your PJs as long as absolutely possible! I love the idea of lounging in a super soft jersery pajama set {I’m a big fan of the menswear inspired stlye} and simply tossing a cozy cardigan over the top. It’s the perfect way to stay toasty while presents are unwrapped and morning morphs into afternoon. I’d happily curl up on the couch with hot chocolate and a Christmas movie – my standard Christmas Day tradition {either The Holiday or Elf!}.

Even if there were an unexpected snaffu or two, I’d at least feel fancy – without ever having to actually get dressed! So it’s official, this year I’m going to get Christmas day started off on the right foot! How about you? Are you a big fan of busting out special pjs for the holidays?

  1. Looks so comfy… Chloe is darling in her pajamas as well!

    1. I’ve always loved that tradition–might have to implement that for every major holiday!

  2. These photos are so comfort-coma inducing, and you look great! I agree, Christmas, if you are so lucky, should involve comfy and glam pjs for as long as possible. Happy holidays!
