Lemonade stands are a dying breed these days, but why?? As a kid they were the epitome of Summer- the idea of fun in the sun was bright and making that little extra spending money {even if it was only .50 cents!} felt like sweet victory!

Nowadays, a lemonade stand is a rare sighting {especially in the city!} and when we think about it, fresh-squeezed lemonade juice is a novelty in itself. Desperately trying to turn back clocks in our ode to Summer, we are determined to make lemonade a “city thing” this season. But how do you up the ante? Because after all, we aren’t six years old anymore. We think we’ve found the answer…

Rose-Infused Lemonade (serves 6)

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh lemon juice
4 cups cold water
1 tablespoon rose water
garnish-lemon slices, rose petals

Heat sugar and water on stove to dissolve sugar. Let mixture cool in the fridge for 2 hours.

Juice lemons. Place lemon juice in pitcher with sugar syrup, water, and rose water.

Lemonade this gorgeous must be brought back to “modern times.” For a more refined look, we dumped the ‘ole Dixie cup and instead, poured the lemonade into small glass tumblers with rose petals for garnish, of course! The rose adds a fragrant floral note to what can sometimes be an overly saturated-with-sugar drink and the extra dose of sophistication makes it all that much more refreshing!

Summer is literally around the corner {hello mid-May!} so what are you waiting for? It’s time to pick up a few lovely lemons and celebrate!
