So if you’ve been round these parts more than once or twice recently, you’ve probably caught that there have been a lot changes happening in my world this year, namely having a baby six months ago! Slipping under the veil of parenthood is legit. I’ve been feeling a tad out of touch with day to day life so when Amanda Holstein of Advice from a 20 Something talked to me about doing a little content exchange – her perspective on the latest and greatest trends, while I attempt to impart a little wisdom on her site – I jumped at the chance. I could use all the “in the know” advice I can get right now. The whole living in a cave with a newborn syndrome has proven to be a bit rough.
For our first post, Amanda is offering her best beauty tips for fall. I’m taking notes.
With a busy schedule and almost no time for pampering, it makes sense that the latest makeup trends may not be top of mind as you enter your thirties and beyond. As a twenty-something spending a large chunk of my time on blogs and social media, I thought I’d share what I’m seeing this season when it comes to beauty. And since I know your lives (especially you new mamas) can get crazy, I’ve picked out only the easiest of trends that you can apply in those thirty seconds before running out the door.
1. Lived-in Makeup
You may already be wearing this trend without even realizing it, but lived-in makeup is becoming very in-season for Fall. And applying it is just as easy as it sounds! The look calls for smudged eyeliner and barely-there blush. Simply apply your liner per usual, on the top lash line or both top & bottom, and use your finger or a Q-tip to create that smudged effect. Use a cheek & lip stain, like Benefit’s Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain in Rose, to create a naturally flushed look.
2. Mauve Lips
A lip color that keeps you on trend is the simplest of all makeup solutions. This season, the 90s are back in play, but since deep dark lips may not be realistic for most of us, go for a mauve shade.
3. Bronze/Blush Combos
Combine two steps into one? Yes, please! Ditch your bronzer and blush, and opt for a combo that allows you to apply both in one quick motion. Plus, the warm hue helps bring in those fall colors seamlessly.
4. Matte Skin
Soft, matte skin is on-trend this fall, and the best way to achieve the look? Use a mattifying finishing powder. It not only keeps you in style, but also helps blend in your makeup for a more natural look and allows it to last longer, too! I’m a huge fan of Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Powder Set as well as Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder. You can’t go wrong with either!
5. Bright Eyes
A no-fuss, barely there look you can wear everyday is the bright eyes trend. Use a highlight or pale shimmer color on the inner corners of your eyes, swipe on some mascara and you’re done! Super easy and it adds a natural glow.
