As the days grow shorter, the light that streams into the loft is starting to get that hazy glow. You know the one, when the day never truly feels bright. Winter really is just around the corner {so sorry to be the barer of bad news!}. But when I think of cold dark winter nights my imagination instantly takes me to my snuggly place. Nope, not under a cozy throw or tucked in bed – I go to my {dream} kitchen! It’s true, nothing brightens my mood more than the idea of being in a fabulously crisp all wintery-white kitchen!

There’s something about the creamy shades of white and layers of texture in a kitchen that get me feeling just as cozy as if I were in front of a crackling fire. As I scroll through Pinterest, I see that I’m not the only one lusting after pretty white spaces. I’ve been seeing a lot of cozy white kitchens and oh, how I long to be in one right now!

There are a few key requirements my dream kitchen wish list. I long for a sleek and modern yet timeless feel. I’m loving the idea of all white cabinets with no hardware. They bring an interesting futuristic quality to a space and make it feel so clean and chic.

I’d love to juxtapose that modern edge with a white brick wall, wooden herringbone floors and maple countertops. Mixing elements adds warmth and character, keeping your kitchen from feeling too sterile. The first kitchen is the perfect example of mixing a rustic chic vibe with modern elements.

I also love unexpected surprises in a kitchen. How fabulous would it be to have a tranquil little spot to sit and enjoy your morning coffee? I can easily imagine myself getting no actual cooking done as I sit in that tiny window seat in the third kitchen!

Here are a few other great options to create the ultimate all white space.

Despite my personal dream of one day having a pristine kitchen, it usually feels like nothing more than a fantasy. That’s why I was thrilled to discover that Samsung {you know the inventor of the refrigerator that makes its own sparkling water!!}, is hosting a fantastic sweepstakes – the opportunity to win a Samsung Kitchen Suite to get your dream kitchen off to a running start. I’d be overjoyed to give the loft’s kitchen a major makeover, but I know someone more deserving – a woman of {stainless} steel shall we say – someone certainly more deserving than I will ever be: my mom.

There are more than million sentimental reasons as to why my mom is a woman of steel, but one of the purely aesthetic reasons is the fact that she has lived with the same kitchen for the past 30+ years! No one deserves that. I call it the Brady Bunch kitchen {sorry mom, it’s true}. We’re talking a harvest gold, avocado green and chocolate brown color scheme and the original appliances! It’s…a sight. And a testament to everything she sacrificed for me over the years – her space took a back seat to support her family.

She, more than anyone else I can think of, is deserving of the most epic dream kitchen. A beautiful state of the art refrigerator and oven would be the jumpstart she needs to finally have the beautiful space she deserves.

Who would you nominate as a Woman of Steel? Head to Facebook to enter Samsung’s Women of Steel Sweepstakes right here. But hurry – today is the very last day to enter! You just have to promise to invite us all over for dinner if your nominee wins!

  1. Oh I love that your mom is making an appearance on the blog! My mom’s kitchen sounds a lot like yours – very outdated. I would have to nominate my amazing mom also. So funny though I use to be an all white kitchen kind of gal, but lately I have really been into black accented kitchens. Something is happening to me. ha 🙂

  2. I have to say this is a pretty cool program and such a cool post about your mom Erin! Definitely going to nominate my mom for this! Go Aparment34 and Samsung!!!!
