Trends are a fascinating phenomenon. They catch fire so quickly. What once was forgotten, you’re suddenly seeing everywhere – at least when it comes to the world of fashion bloggers. They have such a knack for rocking the latest It Thing in such effortlessly cool new ways, you find yourself coveting something you would have never considered before!

For example, it seems that everyone has embraced the fact that Birkenstocks are back in fashion {and often with socks – what?!}. Cropped tops are everywhere, showing more navel than we’ve seen since No Doubt was on tour. And now, we add another 90’s trend to the mix: Mules!

While we usually argue basics are best, this trend has us on the fence. 90’s mules are everywhere these days and dare we say, backless as ever!

With some seriously good designs out there from Margiela to Tibi, Alexander Wang and even Zara, it’s hard to resist slipping into this shoe trend. The right mule, we must admit, looks amazing on the right foot!

Mules, which are best described as a backless bootie when paired with your favorite cropped pant are so on-trend for spring. The modernly interpretive peep-toe options nearly have us hopping the fence!

They’re pretty, yes. And those bloggin’ babes definitely know how to make them look chicly French with their fresh pedis and unbelievably long legs. But we’re still not 100% convinced that mules aren’t just a fast passing fad. Let’s be real, they’re not exactly the most flattering {arguably, an elevated clog!} shaped heel anybody has ever come up with!

What do you think? Mules: a trend to try or one to say bye-bye?

PS: Did you hear? I’m hosting a giveaway this week and there are FIVE chances to win a fab spring goodie bag. Head here for all the details.

  1. I think the mule looks amazing styled with clean, relaxed lines like the posted photos. I’m just not sure I could ever pull it off myself!

  2. LOVE the mule as a trend… and frankly, I still have some good looking ones from the last time they were on scene. Birkenstocks, on the other hand (foot?), are hideous and putrid and will never grace my tootsies. Pretty selections in your post.
