I am a card carrying travel addict. I’ve always loved to explore unfamiliar places and discover new things. From living in Germany as a high school exchange student, backpacking around Europe with friends after college (before Airbnb & uber ya’ll) or jaunting off to Buenos Aires by myself in my mid-twenties, my soul is satisfied when I’m on the go. But jet setting isn’t happening so much right now. Between birthing a tiny human and a giant house I’ve been very stationary for the last couple years and it’s starting to get to me! Since I still don’t have any trips on the horizon I decided to kick off a new series, Wanderlust Wednesday, in attempt to satiate my travel bug. It’s certainly a good excuse to research future dream trips! I’m kicking things off with a fabulous little spot in Paris. Ah Paris….
I am one of those crazy people who start their research with accommodations. I’m sure you’re not shocked. For me, where we physically stay is half the fun! So it’s no surprise that I was immediately smitten with The Hotel Henriette Rive Gauche – a boutique design hotel in Paris’ Left Bank. Recently reminagined by French design firm Les Nouveaux Decorateurs, the modern yet homey feel makes me not just want to stay there, but move right in!
I spy Ellie Cashman wallpaper!
I’m obsessed with the use of color in each guest room. Apparently none of the 32 guest rooms look the same. My color crush du jour, blush, pops up everywhere. And I love that they used paint to create eye-catching design elements – doing cut ins or painting half walls. Rattan and bronze accents pop up everywhere putting a modern twist on shabby chic.
And to take my wanderlust one step further, here’s what I would pack for said trip to Paris and this little gem of a hotel.
SHOP THE POST
Since rooms at Hotel Henriette start at under $100 for a single and stay under $200 a night for rooms for two to four people, you can afford to do a little shopping while in Paris. Or in my case, a lot – I would love to hit the best Paris flea markets to find things for our house.
Have you stumbled upon a gem of a hotel lately? Is there a destination you’ve been lusting after? I would love to know – I want to add them all to my Wanderlust list!
