Now I’m the first to admit that I don’t really do country. While I can appreciate the look, it’s certainly not an aesthetic I tend to share here. But then I spied this amazing home that puts an eye-catching spin on the modern country trend. It seems only fitting to share a slice of design-savvy country style on Memorial Day!
All the white in this home just draws you in (obsessed with those floors!), but you keep looking because of all the stunning details. This is restraint and intention at its finest.
While the house appears expansive, it’s actually pretty teeny tiny. It’s only 740 sq feet – which is apparently the smallest allowed in the Indiana county the owners call home. You have to know what you’re doing to make a small space look this open and airy, but maintain functionality.
It only makes sense that the homeowners, Angie and Alex Wendricks have a leg up. Angie is an interior stylist (with a divine instagram account @countyroadliving btw) and she, along with her industrious husband, designed and finished the interior of this little gem all on their own! I love the shots of black throughout (of course) and the raw pine lends to the country charm without overwhelming the modern feel.
There are so many industrious ideas in this house. From refurbishing a salvaged library door to serve as their front entrance, to elevating an Ikea sofa by surrounding it with stripped down antiques, Angie and Alex used innovative design and major diy skills to the highest degree. This country home feels elevated and fresh. It’s truly a modern twist on classic Americana. It’s just enough to get me to consider moving to the country!
Here’s how I’d go about recreating the look at home – and bonus – pretty much everything is on sale right now! Be sure to head over to Country Living to get the full scoop on this lovely abode.
