Come Friday, summer will officially be here {are you as shocked as am I?}. What better way to usher in the season than with the hottest looks of Resort Wear 2014? Overall, most designers were shying away from tight-fitting silhouettes and embracing the loose, casual, ease that summer rightfully calls for and I couldn’t be happier about it.

One of the most striking collections, Max Mara, packed a punch with some amazing color combinations. Blush tones looked contrasted nicely against darker emeralds and cerulean blue. Coral was paired with bright orange and a salmon colored lip, reinforcing the power of color and mixing hues in the same palette. Gorgeous!

Philip Lim 3.1 also caught my eye. Lim, who usually goes more playful in his styling, attempted to make this line a transition from youth to maturity. You can see the streamlined  kimono style cuts and cropped jackets. He gave a nod to younger days with shorter above the knee hemlines and funky metallic fabrics.

Stella McCartney wasn’t afraid to use a little pattern. A mustard yellow snakeskin pattern paired with baby powder pink looked right on trend for next year!

The best collection of Resort 2014, hands down, has to be my go-to line, Chloé. The collection is exactly what I want to wear come warm weather season. The collection’s key element is the use of relaxed garments – making it easy to be comfortable and weather appropriate, without showing off too much skin.

The highlight of the collection has to be the pants. I for one, tend to shy away from shorts and skirts and love the idea of a cool summer trouser. A trouser might sound bizarre in hot weather, but hem it above the ankle with a wide fit and pleat, and you have the “it” recipe to staying cool and chic all the into fall!

Before we leave, can we talk about those shoes?! I need that black cap toe pump with the wide stacked heel in my life  right now.

Who were your favorite of the Resort collections this year? Any shows that blew it out the park for you that I failed to mention?

  1. Loving the simple silhouettes but striking color combinations! Want them all. Great inspiration for color-mixing.

    1. I think the simpler the silhouette, the easier it is to try out bold colors!
