Now that we’re in the heart of the summer season, travel is all I can really think dream about. While I’m not actually heading to any exotic locales anytime soon, I just keep adding to my wishlist. Today I have Mexico on my mind. Particularly Mexico City. Have you noticed how it’s been popping up everywhere lately? The New York Times, Instagram, blogger trips. Apparently, Mexico City is having a major moment.

Color me intrigued!

After doing just a quickie internet search, I can see why. The hotels, the art scene, the food…Everything in Mexico City is going off right now. Here are just a few examples.

There are stunning places to stay in cool Mexico City neighborhoods like Hotel Condesa df  (above) or La Valise Hotel that features just three beautifully appointed suites, both in the Colonia Roma district.

Another stunning example are the rooms of the chic Down Town Hotel housed in a building dating back to 1700’s in the heart of city.

You can enjoy design aficionado heaven at the Luis Barragan house. Or dine under this stunning vertical garden at Restaurant Pardrinos.

Or marvel at the walls of the museum-like Hueso Restaurant that feature over 10,000 bones and historic artifacts.

Mexico City has the old world charm wrapped within the hum a modern metropolis that is pulsating with art, culture and innovation. While I’m not hopping a plane anytime soon (wah!), I am taking inspiration from the Mexico City vibe to add a fun summer accessory to my world. Any of the goodies below would immediately add a little bit of that colorful Mexican spirit and make me crave a really good margarita (you can actually see my favorite recipe for that right here).

  1. Mexico hasn’t really been on my short list of places to travel, but I agree – I’ve seen it everywhere lately! It may be climbing its way up closer to the top soon. 🙂
