Idea To Steal {24}: Modern Wedding Bouquet

We’re big fans of making a statement down the aisle, so when we saw this wedding “bouquet” we thought it was the perfect fit for a bridal themed Idea to Steal. Have you ever seen an oversized bloom replace a classic bunch bouquet? We certainly hadn’t. And while traditional blooms are always nice, a singular ginormous protea is rather stunning – wouldn’t you agree?!

What are your thoughts on taking a single stem down the aisle? Is it artistic and bold or a statement to be filed under “things you wish you had done differently on your big day”- like that hairstyle your mom rocked at her wedding?!

Wedding Wednesday: {Fall Inspiration}

Not quite sure how we skipped out on Wedding Wednesday for a bit, especially since it was wedding season {shame on us!}. But Fall is a beautiful season to tie the knot too! It’s the perfect time of the year to play with darker color palettes, go a little more rustic in theme, but still keep details modern and clean. Although the leaves haven’t started changing much yet, we’ve gathered up tabletop ideas that are perfect for a cooler, weather changing, Fall wedding!

Color: For Fall weddings, we love the idea of playing with darker hues like navy, gray burnt sienna and black. They have a cozy feel to them and are a perfect backdrop for metallics, to which we say, have fun and mix! Rusty toned metallics like rose gold and copper scream Fall without falling into the obvious orange and brown combo. Add gold spray painted succulents to the flower arrangements or opt out of a traditional white cake for a minimal, modern, gold cake!

Details: Weddings are all about the details of course and there are so many great Fall ideas. One of our favorites is to make escort cards out of dried Autumn leaves. It adds just the right amount of seasonal inspiration without getting too theme-y. Bringing nature in doesn’t have to stop there. A sprig of rosemary or a cute branch is a simple yet beautiful touch to add to a place setting.

Decor: Although we love chandeliers {there is no denying their glam factor!}, we are totally smitten over the idea of hanging multiple strings of roped pendant lights over the table. They’re modern yet rustic and feel more unique. Keeping tabletops clean, decor fresh and fixtures modern you’re set for a far-from-traditional wedding fit for a gorgeous day in the country or in the big city!

Where are all of my Fall brides at? Anybody getting married in the next couple months? What have been your favorite wedding inspirations?

Wedding Wednesday: {Pack Up The Caravan}

For this month’s Wedding Wednesday, we wanted to find the ultimate destination wedding. We had magical nuptials in Ireland, fairytale stories in Tuscany and magnetic love in Thailand all bookmarked and ready for the choosing. That was, until we happened upon the most enchanting wedding blog, Rock My Wedding, based out of the UK. It features some of the most unusual weddings and gorgeous editorials!

This 70’s inspired wedding editorial, inspired by a traveling caravan, immediate shot to the top of list. What’s a better representation of a summer travel theme than the idea of packing up the caravan and hitting the old, dusty, unbeaten road?

The girls literally started the wedding with a table set for two inside a minty green caravan. For the tabletop, they mixed china, gold accents, and sea glass vases filled with wild flowers and feathers. We approve.

I love that the wedding cake isn’t frosted perfectly and has a little lean. It adds to the free, carefree spirit that the 70’s was known for!

Like a well thought out themed wedding, that same spirit is also found in the decor choices. For the reception area, we love the idea of stringing old bottles from tree branches. It’s a nice way to surround a dedicated outdoor space and it gives a very gypsy like feel to the festivities! The tent is calling our name!!

In this particular editorial, the bride had two dresses. The first one was good, but the second look is ah-mazing. The bride is breathtaking in a more classic style gown, yet it still feels slightly bohemian with a fresh flower crown. The makeup? Perfection. We always say yes to dewey skin and a salmon lip. The style is youthful and effervescent with her sweet braids and her long, flowy dress.

We are completely smitten over the wild flower bouquet. It has a fun and whimsy feel to it with a broad color palette, including lavender, coral and cerulean blue. The idea behind the choices, was to make it look like the bridesmaids had just ran through a blooming meadow and picked the flowers for the bride. We love the longer loopy stems and the casualness the daisy brings to the bunch.

Isn’t the entire spread just dreamy? We love the idea of parking airstreams outside your reception area as a great backdrop for photos. Even better, turn one into a killer photo booth. Sounds like a great way to capture some awesome memories from your big day!
