Are you as big of a sucker for a stellar vintage find as I am? Do you feel as daunted on where to find them as I sometimes do?! Thankfully, One King’s Lane has come to our rescue once again. They’ve lined up another who’s who of design bloggers to cherry pick their favorite pieces, all available to us with a single click, rather than hours of scouring flea markets. Love that.

Only 24 hours into this week’s OKL Design Bloggers Tag Sale and the thing is almost entirely sold out, but there are a few jems still available. I shouldn’t have expected anything less given that we’re shopping selections from Jon of Happy Mundane,  House of Brinson and Because It’s Awesome! This is some seriously fabulous taste people.

While the home accessories in this sale have been flying off the shelves, you can still snag those amazing mid-century dining chairs, but only if you beat me to ’em!

Congrats to all the bloggers included in the tag sale. Thank you for making my resourcing that much easier.

Is there anything you have your eye one? And do you have any other sources for great one of a kind finds? I’d love to build my list!

PS: I’m also swooning over Aerin Lauder’s Vintage sale, and not just because I desperately covet how she spells our name!

Sunglasses are such a fab way to change up your look. This is epitomized by the awesome inspiration below – classic art re-interrupted using killer shades!! I die.

The ladies of my new favorite personal style blog, Absolutely Fabulous, totally nailed it with this series. Such a fun idea right? I’m already thinking about what I might want to reimagine for future Fashion Fantasy posts. They also inspired me to add a new pair of sunnies to my spring repertoire.

These Illestevas are going to be on heavy rotation!!

You can get your own pair right here!

Happy Spring!!

Winter whites were all the rage this season, but I’ve got great news for you. They’re not going anywhere! Once mistaken as a understated choice, white is going to be your serious statement-maker this spring.

Take a look at the collection from Natalia Alaverdian called A.W.A.K.E. It takes head-to-toe white to an elevated level with three piece suiting, crisp tailoring and sharp silhouettes. This white is about as far from the beach as you can get.

If you’re looking to make a sophisticated statement in your board room, I would give white, instead of black a try. You’re going to be noticed, rather than fade into the generic corporate background.

What do you think? Does wearing white still feel fresh and exciting to you too?

Can you believe spring is only days away?! While that’s great news, it’s also a tad terrifying. I’m not quite sure where all this time is running off to.

But I’m excited to embrace the changing season, even though New York hasn’t gotten the memo! For this weekend, I’ll revel in wearing my sweaters and boots as my mom and I continue our exploration of this glorious city. From exhibits at the Met and MOMA, to seeing Nora Ephron’s last play and adventuring at the Brooklyn Flea, we’re going to have a ball. I do love this city more every time I visit. Anyone have any recommendations on something we must be sure to check out??

In the meantime, here a few fun things you may have missed this week:

~ After visiting the Met’s Fashion & Impressionism exhibit, I’ve got art on the brain and I’m loving this artist’s work

~ Caitlin launched a new series about flower arranging with my favorite florist, Natalie Bowen

~ Have you seen the one-of-kind vintage chair in my Copious Yard Sale?

~ And I shared my favorite, {and let’s be real, one of my only!} DIY ideas on The Nest!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend friends. Don’t forget to wear green on Sunday! Erin go bragh!!

This week’s Friday Fave is coming to you straight from NYC. We’ve only been in the city for 24 hours, and our feet and fingers might be a little frozen, but according to my Instagram, we’re having a ball!

There will be much more to come after I’m back in San Francisco, but I couldn’t keep myself from sharing a few sneak peeks of our adventures thus far! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the weekend brings!

Everyone was so enthusiastic about the debut of our new coloum, This is Very Pinteresting, so we decided to keep er goin’! For the second installment, we’re talking traditional Kilim rugs, specifically in modern spaces.

There’s no denying why Kilim rugs are oh so popular right now. They bring instant color, warmth and texture to a home, balancing out hard edges and grounding the stark minimalism of modern pieces. Not to mention, Kilims bring an international flare making a room look more collected and eclectic. They look especially good in a kitchen {which tends to be the most modern room of the home with stainless steel appliances and the latest cooking gadgets}.

However, Kilims have taken a place in virtually every room of the house! Let’s have a look.

Kilim {a Turkish word} is used to describe flat weave rugs made in the region between the Balkans and Pakistan. So, to clear this up for us geographically challenged folk, that includes big countries like Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran {formerly Persia, hence the synonym: Persian rug}, parts of North Africa and Asia. Besides the intricate patterns, geometric shapes and bold colors, the main characteristic of a Kilim is that it is pileless {Editors note: there is nothing that grosses me out more than pile rugs! It must be the dog owner in me!}

Kilim rugs are one of the oldest design traditions in the world, making vintage Kilims a sought after piece in the design world, often having a hefty price tag. To find the best deals on vintage Kilims keep up on sites like eBay and Etsy. I’ve been on the lookout for a perfect blue Kilim for a while now. I found one at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and was devastated that it was in horrible condition. However, I regret not getting it because I could have salvaged the good parts of the rug and made some awesome pillows!

What do you all think of adding a pop of color and eclecticism to a modern space? Have you had your eye on Kilim too? We’ll give you our Etsy secrets if you give us yours!

This is Very Pinteresting is brought to you by our editorial intern Bianca of A Fabulous Challenge

How long has it been since you’ve spent an entire day in bed? Can you even remember? Wouldn’t it be blissful?

I will be enduring the exact opposite of said bliss today. Instead, I’m crammed into a middle seat on the six-hour cross country trek to New York. But the entire time, I’ll be dreaming of this:

I’m loving this shoot by Finnish stylist Susanna Vento for the magazine Scandanavian Deko. It turns the expected bedroom “catalog” shot on it’s head, quite literally! I’ve been loving our all white bed, oh to be cuddled under a cute print comforter right now instead of trudging through an airport….

All in due time my friends. All in due time.

PS: You can find more of Susanna Vento’s stellar work here and even more Scandinavian goodness on Deko’s Pinterest page here.  Apologies for my excessive over-Pinning last night!

While the looks that strut down Fashion Month’s runways are always fabulous, the sidewalks often tell more about the look du jour. It’s like doing trend spotting in a fashion barrel! Last week we zeroed in on Parisian chic. This week, we’re featuring a new outfit option that quickly rose to the surface on the sidewalks…

The Cape-Coat.

Now, lest we forget, capes were in a few seasons back, but the latest versions have been updated to feel more like a coat hybrid. They now come with longer, slimmer  silhouettes and with larger slits that actually provide a full range of motion. Hallelujah. {If you don’t have a traditional cape in your closet, I can attest, limited arm movement was the old downside. You’d feel like you were cut off at the elbows!}. I’m excited about this coat alternative for spring. It feels light, it feels fun and it’s a great way to fend off a spring chill, but still enjoy afternoon sun on your arms! I think Gabriella Wilde, attending Burberry’s show in London, wore the trend best. A deep navy hue popped against her crisp white shirt and the open toed shoes made the look feel totally now.

Alas, Burberry’s version of the cape-coat above will set you back a cool $1,600. Thankfully, a new line from Leslie Tessler gives us a plethora of options for a fraction of the cost.

I’m particularly smitten with her swingy Turquoise Pluma Cape. It feels like the perfect punch of color that will refresh the old stand-bys in your wardrobe. Now that they days are longer {but I still want my hour back dammit!} and we can finally shrug off those heavy puffer coats, why not try this option on for size?

I’m in. You?

Here’s to trying something new this week!

Did you know that finding the ultimate outfit, the one that makes you walk with a little swagger, has nothing to do with the label? It has nothing to with the price or where you bought it either. The secret to the ideal ensemble?? The fit!! But the daunting task of sifting through racks of garments or spending hours perusing websites to find the perfect piece is never fun.

That’s why I partnered up with ModaMi, the personal shopping site that helps you find the right dress and most importantly, the right fit for your body type. This whole technology thing can make shopping a lot less daunting and I like it. When you register at ModaMi, first they’ll ask you to take a quick quiz about your style, body shape, and life. They’ll then pull all the items from your go-to stores that you already love, but will find what works best for you based on the details you’ve provided. It’s like your own {free!} personal shopper!

This week ModaMi is focused on summer appropriate workwear. Here are some of our favorite options for various body types.

For a more covered-up look in the office {will someone turn down the AC!}, we adore what showed up in the shop curated for women with a martini figure. In order to balance out a broader top half and slim hips, go for looser fitting garments. We’re obsessed with baggy silk pants that cinch at the ankles paired with a flowy basic tank. In order to stay away from looking to frumpy, make sure to pair some sexy heels and killer accessories with your outfit. I’d also be careful with a blazer. Look for one that is well-tailored and defines your waist nicely {no shoulder pads!}.

For my curvy gals, finding the perfect look is all about defining your shape and showing off your assets! A knee-length skirt, a cinched waist and a statement necklace are going to accentuate all the right places. A pretty print top and a bright accessory are also going to make a strong statement. I love the neon print in the floral top above paired with the art deco style necklace!

I can attest for women with a column shaped body: equal shoulders and hips with stems for days, that it actually is difficult to find pieces that give you a shape and definition. With Modami, it’s so simple. They got this one down! The go-to workwear outfit they picked for me is a wide leg trouser to add some bulkiness to the bottom half, a chunky necklace for balance, and a basic tee to enhance long arms. Done.
